Chou
A Sweet Shop in Eaux-Vives
Welcome to a world where choux pastry is queen. This pastry shop in Eaux-Vives, Geneva, is entirely devoted to this delicious speciality. Every day, the team makes its creations on site, with quality ingredients. On the coffee shop side, an exceptional coffee also awaits visitors. The house carefully selects premium, freshly roasted coffees for the perfect cup.

Choux Pastry ; A Bit of History
Choux pastry has crossed the centuries without losing its charm. Its origins go back to the Renaissance, at the court of Catherine de’ Medici. The cook Popelini is said to have devised a dough cooked twice, first in the pan, then in the oven. In the 19th century, the great pastry chef Antonin Carême perfected the recipe. Éclairs, profiteroles, Paris-Brest and religieuses followed. Today, choux still win people over with their lightness and their ability to hold a thousand fillings.
Geneva Indulgence
Chou ; Savoury Choux and Newby Teas
One weekday evening, it is off to Geneva to discover the Chou shop. At the thought of tasting these little treats, impatience grows. Around 7 pm, the shop welcomes the guests, privatised for the occasion. From the entrance, a true world of indulgence unfolds. The evening begins with an assortment of savoury choux, all perfectly balanced. Each comes with an infusion from Newby Teas (in French), chosen to enhance the flavours. This pairing of choux and tea offers a real moment of indulgence.

Chou ; Good to Know
The shop is in the Eaux-Vives district, a few minutes from the lake. A walk to the Jet d’Eau nicely extends the sweet break. The choux can be enjoyed on site or taken away in pretty boxes. They make an original gift for a dinner with friends. In Geneva, Aux Merveilleux de Fred and Pages & Sips (in French) offer other indulgent breaks.

After this indulgent moment and a few photos, the verdict is clear: a lovely taste surprise. The address had long been on the blog’s “to eat list”. A return visit is a must to taste new choux.
