The Sleepy Bear Coffee Shop is the perfect place to wake up your senses after a rough night!
Sleepy Bear Coffee
A Crowdfunded Coffee Shop in Lausanne
Between the big American chains and the cheapest instant coffee in shopping centres, the choice is often limited to the basics. So when news of a new café opening soon starts to spread, curiosity quickly takes over. A few clicks are enough to find out: the Sleepy Bear Coffee Shop will soon open in Lausanne thanks to crowdfunding. The presentation video is tempting, and so is the name. All that remains is to wait patiently for news on social media.
An Ode to Specialty Coffee
Macchiato, Cappuccino and Latte Art
The long-awaited opening finally arrives, and on 19 December 2016 it is time to discover Sleepy Bear Coffee. As soon as you step through the glass door, the setting is charming: a brick wall, wooden furniture and understated decor. Everything you need to feel good. The small space feels like your own living room, and you naturally want to stay. On the menu, displayed on a large blackboard, the macchiato catches the eye. The little drink holds a lovely surprise, and the phrase “small but mighty” sums it up perfectly.

A lovely explosion of flavours and a little taste journey. The cappuccino, meanwhile, shows off the famous latte art. Combining art and food makes a real winning duo. This first visit makes you want to come back and try less classic coffees, including the matcha latte that already catches the eye.

Sleepy Bear Coffee ; Matcha Latte and Light Bites
A few days later, back at the café to taste that famous matcha latte. For those who don’t know it, matcha is a green tea powder used in cooking, especially in cakes, but also in drinks. A cappuccino completes the order. A nice touch: both drinks are made with almond milk, for a lovely blend. A delicious chocolate cookie rounds off this treat.
After two visits to this little corner of paradise, Sleepy Bear Coffee comes highly recommended to all coffee lovers. The coffee is excellent and the setting really pleasant, with a genuine feeling of being at home. In the same area, Ça passe Crème (in French) is another must for specialty coffee.
