Season is one of those cookbooks you open again and again, two or three times a month…
Season
Cookbook
Cookbooks are a real passion. Bookshops quickly become a playground for discovering new releases and leafing through recipes. For Season, a short review in a newspaper is enough to spark curiosity. Yet nothing beats holding the book to form your own opinion. This book is by Cathy Closier, founder of the Season restaurant in Paris. Published by Marabout, it brings together about 80 of the house’s recipes.

A Lovely Gift
Season ; The Perfect Cookbook
As luck would have it, the book finally arrives as a birthday present. A beautiful object, devoured at once. Every recipe makes your mouth water and every page turned whets the appetite. Only one desire: to rush to the kitchen and try the recipes one after another. The photos are just as tempting. Salads, open sandwiches, cheesecake: the recipes also seem quick and easy to make. After a few attempts, “Oliver’s pancakes” became the favourite recipe. An ideal Sunday treat, to please others or yourself. Another favourite: the end of the book offers a city guide to a few addresses in New York. A city that makes you dream.

Cooking Between Paris and New York
The book’s subtitle sums up its spirit well: recipes from a very New York Parisienne. You find the freshness of Brooklyn cafés and the indulgence of French-style brunches. Colourful bowls, generous salads and homemade sweets follow one another page after page. The ingredients remain simple and easy to find. The recipes suit a quick lunch as well as a brunch with friends. A book designed for everyday cooking, without ever giving up pleasure.
Season ; A Recipe to Start With
Pancakes remain the best way into this book. Easy to make, they appeal to all ages. A very hot pan and a rested batter make all the difference. Topped with fresh fruit and maple syrup, they turn a Sunday morning into a New York brunch. Other books share this indulgent spirit, such as Ottolenghi’s Sweet (in French) for pastry lovers.
Season in Paris
Though the book is already extraordinary, a short trip to Paris is a chance to discover the restaurant. The copy is already well worn, and the urge to step through Season’s door grows. Social media and blogs confirm it: the place is full of good produce. A magical place not to be missed on a Parisian stay. To extend the gourmet stroll, Nina’s Paris (in French) is also worth a visit.
