BAR du Beau-Rivage Palace
Retro Chic at the Lausanne Palace
There are evenings like this one when you simply need to switch off completely. That night, I felt like enjoying cocktails in a hushed atmosphere. My steps led me to the lakeshore in Ouchy, towards the BAR du Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne. It was not my first visit, and I already knew I would find quality drinks there. As soon as I walked in, a Cosmopolitan kicked off my evening. A classic choice, but one that never fails to charm.

The Art of Mixology
BAR du Beau-Rivage Palace
The bartender’s professionalism showed in every carefully orchestrated movement as he mixed the ingredients. Once I had sipped this delight, it was clear the evening could not end there. Curious by nature and in a chatty mood, I asked the bartender to suggest my next cocktail. He recommended a twist on the Cosmopolitan, the “Nookie in New-York”. This bold creation, combining Aperol, citrus syrup and basil espuma, was fresh and captivating. For me, however, nothing could beat the charm of the classic Cosmopolitan.

BAR du Beau-Rivage Palace ; A Japanese Interlude
A Plate from Miyako
Carried away by this enthusiasm, I gave in to the temptation of a plate of sushi straight from Miyako, the Japanese restaurant next to the BAR du Beau-Rivage Palace. Every bite was an explosion of flavours, and the twelve pieces I had chosen quickly disappeared. Still in the same spirit, I decided to treat myself again by ordering another cocktail.
Two Extraordinary Cocktails
BAR du Beau-Rivage Palace ; Endless Creations
On the expert advice of the exceptional bartender, I went for an Asian Jasmin Collins, a cocktail with Asian notes made with homemade pandan syrup, gin and jasmine green tea. The essence of Japan was almost tangible! During my conversation with the bartender, who took the time to tell me the history of the place, I discovered that you can sign up for a cocktail class at the BAR du Beau-Rivage Palace. An opportunity to explore their signature creations and uncover the secrets behind the bar. I ended the evening with the MORCHITO, a refreshing reinterpretation of the classic Mojito. This last nectar marked the end of a wonderful evening, where sumptuous drinks took centre stage.

I wholeheartedly recommend this place to all lovers of cocktails and original drinks. The choice is so wide that it will take several evenings to explore its incredible flavours, from classics to more whimsical creations. Remember, though, to enjoy alcohol in moderation.

The palace also offers a refined afternoon tea (in French). The BAR also hosts masterclasses, such as one dedicated to Larusée absinthe (in French).
