Fancy a little foodie trip to Greece? Head to Le Lyrique, in Lausanne.
Le Lyrique
A Greek Restaurant in Lausanne
Located in the lower part of Lausanne, just below the Opera, this restaurant serves excellent Mediterranean cuisine. On arrival, you are welcomed into a French bistro-style dining room. It is calm, which is a good thing. Once at the table, a charming waiter looks after us. The menu goes round and everyone gives their opinion on the dishes. Some of the Greek names take a little practice to pronounce!

A Trip to the Mediterranean
Le Lyrique ; Generous Greek Platters
When the waiter returns, it’s time to order. Three of us go for a platter with an evocative name: La Crétoise. It brings together vine leaves, spinach and feta pastries, cheese balls and thick chips. Add to that a Greek salad, a tapenade mousse with sun-dried tomatoes and feta, and a mint yoghurt. The rest of the table chooses La Grecque. On the plate: vine leaves, spinach and feta pastries, beef meatballs and aubergine caviar. Tzatziki, tomato quenelles, Greek salad mousse and pitta bread complete the platter.
The most adventurous palate at the table is tempted by a dish with an original name: lachanodolmades me saltsa. These are cabbage leaves stuffed with meat, served with vegetables.

Le Lyrique ; Greek Wines and Indulgent Desserts
For drinks, the waiter recommends a glass of Greek white wine. The rest of the table opts for a bottle of red from the country, just as well chosen. The atmosphere is festive and everyone seems to enjoy their dish. The cooking is perfectly mastered: nothing too greasy or too spicy. Every plate comes back empty.
For some, the evening continues on a sweet note. On the menu: a chocolate fondant and a kind of Greek mille-feuille. A lovely pair of desserts to end the meal. Le Lyrique definitely offers a wonderful trip to Greece. The classic setting, top-notch staff and warm atmosphere make for a really good time. A first visit, but surely not the last.

To extend the trip, the Y Grec (in French) delicatessen is a treat in Lutry. And the six days in Kos (in French) will have you dreaming of Greece.
