morges tourisme

Between lake, castle and gourmet treats, Morges is rediscovered over a full day.

A Getaway to Morges

On the Vaud shore of Lake Geneva, a small town invites a day devoted to slowing down. Lake, heritage and treats make up a programme as simple as it is delightful.

A Day in the Region

Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, Morges charms with its balance of nature, heritage and the gentle Vaud way of life. Only fifteen minutes from Lausanne towards Geneva, the town is an ideal getaway. Its harbour facing Mont Blanc, its charming lanes and the landscapes of La Côte invite you to slow down. In the heart of this peaceful atmosphere, Morges Castle proudly overlooks the quays. Built in the 13th century, this imposing Savoyard building houses several museums. It also recalls the town’s strategic role throughout history.

The town is not just its castle and offers many places to relax. By the lake, the Parc de l’Indépendance hosts the famous Tulip Festival every spring. A few steps away, the Musée Alexis Forel immerses visitors in local history through a rich collection of decorative arts. Between strolls along the quays, cultural discoveries and escapes into the vineyards, Morges reveals a lively and authentic side.

The Morges Area

The lakeside sets the pace of a day of cafés, markets and flavours from elsewhere. Each address reveals a different side of the local way of life.

Morges ; A Moment by Lake Geneva

The day begins at KO-LAB Café, both a specialty coffee shop and an art gallery with a modern setting. The discovery continues at the town market, held every Wednesday and Saturday. This event is a chance to meet producers and players from the region. At lunchtime, La Gazette Café and shop welcomes you for a meal in an eclectic place. The homemade Levantine flavours delight and restore energy. For dessert, the baklava perdu creates a delicious meeting between French toast and baklava. This originality wins full approval. In the sunshine, a mango matcha offers a drink as original as it is refreshing.

The Musée Bolle

Local heritage is also revealed through singular cultural venues. Temporary exhibitions and passionate encounters feed visitors’ curiosity.

Cultural Heritage of Morges

A short walk along the lake leads to the Musée Bolle. The venue hosts temporary exhibitions, including one devoted to the world of The Little Prince during this visit. The discovery takes on a special dimension thanks to a conversation with the curator, Charlotte Lukaszewski. She shares her view of the exhibition and the museum’s missions. This moment proves both enriching and warm.

The experience proves immersive and poetic, with a sensitive and artistic approach to the work. Since its first publication in New York in 1943, The Little Prince has become a worldwide literary phenomenon. Sold in hundreds of millions of copies, it is among the most read books in the world. Its translations cover several hundred languages and dialects. This poetic and philosophical work, illustrated with its author’s watercolours, conveys a universal life lesson. While the story of the Little Prince remains well known, Saint-Exupéry’s life is less explored. A passionate aviator, Aéropostale pioneer, journalist and war pilot, he drew inspiration from a life of adventure. The exhibition thus invites a journey into this world and the life of its author. A loan from the Vaud collector Jean-Marc Probst also offers the chance to discover unique copies of the book.

Once outside, a gourmet break is a must at Dolce Italia in good company. Artisanal ice cream in hand, this relaxing moment feels like a holiday. The day ends by the lake under a few rays of sunshine.

Morges ; Between Activities and Gentle Living

Beyond its gourmet addresses, the town cultivates a soothing way of life. The market, museums and quays make up a pleasant area to explore.

Rediscovering the Morges Area

A day in Morges has the feel of a simple and soothing interlude. The region is rediscovered differently, with a few lovely surprises along the way. Often passed through without a real stop, the town deserves time to linger. Its streets also keep the memory of Audrey Hepburn (in French), who lived nearby in Tolochenaz. The market brings real life and a warm atmosphere. The Musée Bolle reveals a calmer, more cultural side, with exhibitions made for wandering. This human-scale place is perfect for a break.

The pace slows naturally around a sweet break, just for the pleasure of it. The town offers a multitude of little corners to sit and enjoy. No need to go far to escape, because simple things make all the difference here.
